International co-operation

Alternative to Violence (ATV)

ATV was the first organization in Europe to start working with men who perpetrate intimate partner violence (IPV) in 1987.

Today we offer violence-focused therapeutic approaches for adults who use violence, and children and adults who have been exposed to violence in close relationships, as well as adolescents with aggressive and violent behaviour. The organization contributes to violence prevention policies, conferences, and trainings for professionals, and has longstanding experience with international co-operation.

Based on four decades of clinical experience, university level research, participation in national committees and international scientific and political fora, ATV has expertise on collaboration on a prevention and interventions regarding all aspects of domestic and gender based violence and family violence.

ATV’s long-term commitments have included projects under Norway Grants in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. ATV has also participated in joint projects around violence prevention and therapeutic approaches to family violence in Italy, Greece, Estonia, Serbia, North Macedonia, Australia, Sweden, Denmark and South Africa. Alternative to Violence is also a member of Work With Perpetrators Network.
